This research explores how social class works in the professional middle class with White and Black women and Latinas. Using focus groups, homogeneous by race/ethnic group and class biography, to investigate their experiences, I compared women who come from less privileged classes with those who have always been middle class. My primary questions were to discover how they became the women they are today and how they experience their professional lives, predominantly in the workplace. By focusing on motivational influences, obstacles and resources, I was able to reveal the workings of cl
