"Specific of managing mono-profile cities in Tuimen' North" (by Marina
Belonozhko and Nikolay
Kryssin) considers outspoken specifics and prime management aspects arising in
the course of
development and functioning of monoprofile cities in Tuimen' (an administrative region
Western Siberia) North - that is settlements which had arisen in the wake of developing
around city-forming oil-and-gas enterprises here. Case-studies of four such cities
have formed authors'
data base for the analysis: Kogalym, Langhepas, Pokalchi, and Ouray. Standard social
attitudes of city-dwellers are characterized, along with influences on them exercised
by specifics of material well-being,
place of employment etc. Conclusions thus made relate to arguable prospects of overcoming
monoprofile character of oil-cities.
