"Re-constructing armed conflict image structure (mass media materials)" (by Larissa Bourganova
and Piotr Kornilov) analyses materials published in recent Russian periodicals. War conflicts and select individual episodes are characterized in relation to their image depiction. Rows of rational and emotional images are demonstrated, and - with regard to the latter - delimitation of macro- and micro-levels is offered.
Mythological nature is stressed related to image construction displayed in narratives of just and unjust war,
of 'strange war', or 'bad war'. Typical scenes and actors are singled out involving heroes, doctors, allies or
traitors, etc. War images are construed and structured on the basis of above narratives. Certain mechanics
are seen to be used as well in information outlay about war to shape desired attitudes to it.
