"Variativeness of views in the sphere of parenthood" (by Tatiana Gurko) follows up views in the
sphere of parenthood among individuals of different age (generation) groups of men and women based on
the empirical studies in Petersburg and Tula (1998-99). It is shown how various currents of feminist
scholars have itemized imposition of parenthood functions on women. Empiric data related to 'parents
role division', 'compulsory child birth', 'conscious refusal to have children', 'non-biologic parenthood',
'gender socialization' are described. It is concluded that views of parenthood are function not so much of
sexes as of age groups - a fact natural for the transforming society of Russia.
