"Dynamics of basic values in everyday activities and work motivations among Moscow workers in
the 1990th" (by Vassily Patrushev and Galina Bessokirnaya) is based on empirical materials of three
surveys effected between 1990 and 2000 involving ten Moscow based industrial units. Changing values
of everyday activity and work motivation are followed up chronologically: 1990-1994, and 1994-2000.
Voluminous sociological finding data are cumulatively presented in nine tables. Five basic conclusions had
been made: 1. Dominant values are currently family and health. 2. Value of work has decreased on the
whole. 3. Motive of earning has grown out of proportion; a new motive has emerged - "guaranteed employment".
4. To survive, employees had to considerably cut short the size of leisure time. 5. Changes in this hierarchy of
values are eventually feasible with the bettering of the general social and economic situation in the country.
