Xenophobic attitudes and electoral preferences in Russia in 1994—2003 (by Anastassia Leonova). Basing on the public opinion dynamics in post-Soviet Russia the article focuses on xenophobic views extension on different social groups, as well on the supporters of various political powers: "authorities party", "communists", "nationalists" and "democrats".
A steady increase of ethnophobic attitudes is typical for the whole noted period and that testifies not only the aggravation of inter-ethical relations but to a greater extent, the general rise of social tensions in Russian society in 1990s-2000s.
Recently a major tendency became the spread of ethnophobic views on traditionally resistant social groups, which constituted the electoral base of the democratic parties. Also more educated, young and socially active groups were involved in these attitudes. Thus the expansion of ethnophobia becomes an important factor of the social life in Russia in general and in forming a political field in particular.
