"Information actors in the regions" (by Alla Tshirikova) analyses political processes of recent origins taking place in information space of select Russia's heartland regions. Interviews with a number of top experts close to power relationships in mass communication media (in two oblasts of Russia - Yaroslavl and
Samara) serve as prime empirical base for the paper. This empirical base allows reproducing principal discourse agenda about regional mass media and influence avenues of various actors (politics or businesses in the main) on regional politics in the sphere in question. Models of interrelations between regional power elite and media are formulated, i.a., model of patronage and that of partnership. Mass media orientations are scrutinized related to eventual political conjuncture taking its shape in the regions discussed.
