The SCC was organized in 1996 by Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM) and AMR Research, and initially included 69 voluntary member companies. The Council now has closer to 1,000 corporate members world-wide and has established international chapters in Europe, Japan, Australia/New Zealand, South East Asia, and Southern Africa with additional requests for regional chapters pending. SCC's membership is primarily practitioners representing a broad cross section of industries, including manufacturers, services, distributors, and retailers.
The site is divided into a "public" and a "member's only" section. Non-members are welcome to browse the public section information including the Supply-Chain Operations Reference-model (SCOR) Overview materials, IT vendors, consultants, and researchers that support SCOR, calendar of upcoming events, links to other related organizations, and general information on the association.
For a nominal annual fee, members have access via password to the current version of SCOR, complete contact information on all members, email access to committee dialog on SCOR, given at Council conferences, and research study results conducted by members and others under the auspices of the Council.

This section contains the latest Council news, publications and informational material on the SCOR-model. It also features a listing of case studies, Products and Services that Council member companies offer, as well as a site search guide and recent job listings.
To better serve the Supply-Chain Councils growing worldwide membership, Chapters have been established to provide support, implement SCC policy, promote the use of the SCOR-model and to provide a forum Council member companies to address regional supply chain concerns. There are Council Chapters in Australia, Europe, Japan, Singapore, Latin America, and the Republic of South Africa.
The Supply-Chain Council has established the Awards for Supply Chain Excellence in Supply Chain Operations and Management to encourage the continuous advancement of the supply chain management body of knowledge and the sharing of information between organizations. Awards are given annually to the organizations that achieved excellence in the area of supply chain management. This section contains the 2001 & 2002 Award submission information.
