Life Values of Ukraine Population: Comparison With 23 Other European Countries (Article 1)

русская версия

Опубликовано на портале: 21-01-2011
The present article and its continuation which will be published in the following issue of "Vestnik" focus on the comparison of values of Ukraine inhabitants and those of the European countries. New possibilities for grounded comparisons of Ukraine population with other European countries have emerged due to Ukraine entering a large scale international project "European Social Survey". Ukraine joined this international Project during the second round; the surveys of this round were carried out in late 2004 early 2005 in 24 European countries. This survey allows for the first time for a possibility of making up a value portrait of Ukraine population against the background of the majority of European population. It is important for the purpose of comparison that both "the old" Capitalist countries and the former Socialist countries (Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czechia) as well as one of the post-Soviet countries (Estonia) took part in this survey.
