The paper presents analysis of the priorities for the Austrian Presidency in the EU in the turbulent period of the first half of the 2006. The analysis is based on the major official documents, such as the Multiannual strategic programme, Operational programme for the Council 2006 submitted by the incoming Austrian and Finnish Presidencies, Financial Perspective 2007-2013, as well as statements and interviews by the EU and Austrian leaders.
