The paper analyzes the findings of Levada Center surveys during the 2000-s. According to these data, about 7–8 mln. of the Russians regularly use Internet for more than two hours a day, having access to all the variety of net resources. They are first of all young, successful, educated inhabitants if large cities of the country. Monopoly of government TV channels in shaping the view of the events in the country still persists.
