The conference "The usage, costs and benefits of cash: Theory and evidence from macro and micro data”. Date: 27-28.02.2012. Site: Eltville, Germany. Deadline: 31.10.2012.


The Cash Department of the Deutsche Bundesbank will hold a conference in Eltville, Germany, on 27-29 February 2012. The objective of the conference is to enable academics, researchers and central bank experts to discuss and exchange views as well as to present empirical and theoretical research on cash-related subjects.
Conference content Papers (in English) covering the following subjects are welcome (but other related areas may also be considered):
  • Payment behaviour
  • Demand for cash: estimation and forecasting of cash in circulation and its component (transaction demand, hoarding and foreign demand)
  • Costs and benefits of cash (especially in relation to non-cash payment instruments)
  • Cash and monetary policy
  • Future of cash
  • Evolution of cash and the financial crisis

All papers presented at the seminar will be published in a special conference volume. Conference contact for registration and submission of papers
Registration is necessary for the conference (the number of participants will be limited). This will allow access to all sessions and include all conference material.
Submission deadline for submitting abstracts (and preferably the paper) is 31 October 2011. Only electronic submissions will be considered. If you want to participate nwithout presenting a paper, you may also send an e-mail stating your interest ..
