The Role of Property Rights Specification during Economic Crisis: The Example of «Desolation» of 1570—1580s in Central and North-West Russia

This article reviews the studies of land property rights institution made by the Russian historians of the XIX — beginning of the XX century. The role of property rights in economic crises is studied on the example of desolation of the Central and North-West Russia in 1570-1580. Author considers the establishment of manor property in Moscowian Russia as a case of selection of nonoptimal institution made because of pressure group influence that led to agrarian and economic crisis at the mid of XVI century.
