Advanced business logistics [
Garland Chow
Business Logistics is the set of activities involved in the flow of materials and
products through
an organization and through the supply chain to the market. This course examines
and applies
management tools and principles to these supply and distribution problems. Emphasis
is first
placed on developing a broad overview of the logistics field: what are its principle
activities,
decisions and how these activities produces value by supplying customer service through
order
fulfilment. Interfunctional coordination is reviewed by examining how logistics is
coordinated
or integrated with marketing and corporate strategy. Next, a thorough grounding in
concepts,
alternatives and tools for the primary activities of logistics: inventory, transportation,
warehousing and order processing are presented. This provides the basis for examining
issues in
logistics system design, including stock location, sourcing, number and location
of facilities and
flow management. The organizational design of the logistics system across the internal
supply
chain is examined if time permits. Various problems and case assignments seek to
encourage
problem conceptualization, the application of quantitative methods, and the utilization
of
computing capability for solving logistics problems in specific areas and for designing
the
logistics system. A term project is used to allow students to: be proficient in one
or more tools or
process areas of business logistics, pursue a subject in depth, apply tools and principles
to
realistic problems and develop writing, oral and team skills.

Advanced Business Management and Integrative Case Study [
To ensure that students can exercise judgement and apply techniques in strategic
business management to enable them to contribute to the formulation of business strategy
and other decision making. It also provides an opportunity for students to learn
to adapt to changes in factors that impact on business decisions. Students should
be able to see how specific functional areas are integrated in order to arrive at
strategic business decisions.

Advanced Econometrics I [учебная программа]
Frank A. Wolak
Fall 1999-2000
This course has two goals. The first is to provide students with a working knowledge
of asymptotic statistical methods. The second is to apply these statistical concepts
to study the large-sample properties of all commonly used econometric models.

Advanced Econometric Theory [
Javier Hidalgo
To introduce the student to topics at the frontier of econometric research of importance
both at a theoretical and empirical level, which by their nature are not possible
to incorporate into a general Econometrics course.

Advanced Economic Theory-Micro [
Martin J. Osborne
Fall, 2006
This is a third-year undergraduate course in game theory.
This course covers the theory of games, a set of tools used widely in economics to
study situations in which decision-makers (consumers, firms, politicians, governments,
...) interact. Game theory dominates contemporary economic theory and is used in
many other disciplines, including political science, sociology, and biology. A variety
of economic applications will be discussed.

Advanced Game Theory [
Lones Smith
Fall, 2002
This is a second year graduate course in game theory. It assumes that your prior
knowledge of
game
theory x and your analytical ability y obey the inequality xy > c, where c > 0 is
a constant
that I cannot quantify. The idea is that this is a sequel to Econ 602, but I will
not enforce
that rule, since your y may be high, or you may x may owe to other sources, like
seeing “A
Beautiful Mind” (I hope not).

Advanced Institutional Economics [

Robert C. Feenstra
Spring, 2002
модель Хекшера-Олина;
гравитационные модели;
инструменты торговой политики;
политэкономия протекционизма;
прямые инвестиции и ТНК;

Advanced Labor Economics [
John S. Earle, Yoram Weiss
This course has two main purposes: to expose PhD students to some of the professional
research in the field of labour economics, and to provide a foundation for future
dissertation research on these and related topics, including with application to
the economies of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Prerequisites
for the course include graduate level microeconomics and econometrics; although the
course is intended predominantly for PhD students, it is also open to MA students
with the permission of the instructors. Relevant theory will be discussed, but the
course material also includes applied work that tests or calibrates theories, that
evaluates the impact of government policies, or that simply attempts to provide careful
description of important labour market phenomena.

Advanced Microeconomic Analysis I [учебная программа]
Levent Kockesen
Fall, 2004
This is a graduate course on game theory and its applications. Although, most of
the lectures
will be
devoted to presentation of important concepts and tools of non-cooperative game theory,
special topics such
as repeated games, bargaining, reputation e¤ects, learning, and bargaining in
cooperative contexts will also
be discussed as time permits.

Advanced Microeconomics [
Lawrence M. Ausubel
Spring, 2007
Economics 704 is the second half of the Economics Department’s two-semester
sequence in Advanced Microeconomics, intended for second-year Ph.D. students. (Economics
703, the first half of the sequence, is taught by Professor Peter Cramton in the
fall semester.) In Spring 2007, the course will focus on auction theory, matching
theory, and the relationship between auction theory and matching theory. Other topics
that are treated in some years include: sequential bargaining under incomplete information;
and equilibrium refinements.

Advanced Quantitative Methods [
Pam Morrison
2003
This course introduces students to various data analysis techniques which will allow
you to design research projects appropriately and conduct the necessary data analysis.
In conducting empirical studies it is necessary to understand the benefits and drawbacks
of various techniques so that you can select analytical techniques appropriate to
answer the research questions being tested. The analysis should be designed as an
integral part of a study, and precede the development of surveys and data collection.

Advanced Topics in Finance: Seminar in Financial Derivatives [
Don M. Chance
Spring 2001
This course is a doctoral seminar in financial derivatives. The pre-requisite is
Financial
Derivatives II or an equivalent course. There are no exceptions. This is an extremely
advanced course.
Students not qualifying for the course can sit in on it but are not eligible to receive
a grade.
In this course students will provide extensive details
on the theory underlying these models.
One thing students shall cover little, if any, is empirical research in derivatives.
The pace of empirical research
in derivatives has slowed considerably due to lack of data on over-the-counter derivatives
and the fact that
research on exchange-listed derivatives can best be described as in a mature stage.
Thus, the state of
empirical research on derivatives can best be described as at a mature stage.
In addition theoretical research covers a broad range of topics and includes
research using simulation in lieu of actual observed prices. Time permiting students
may be able to discuss the
state of empirical research on derivatives and point you in the right direction for
what to read next.
Another theoretical topic students shall not cover is the binomial model. It is assumed
you have had a rigorous
treatment of it. By al means, be aware of the relationship of it to the Black-Scholes
model as the limiting
case.

Advances In Consumer Analysis [
Margaret Craig-Lees
The focus of Consumer Analysis is the consumption behaviour of people, thus the subject
draws heavily from the behavioural science disciplines such as psychology and sociology.
Consumer Analysis introduces participants to major concepts, research and issues
that have relevance to consumer behaviour dynamics. These concepts are in a framework
that can be applied to the analysis of the individual consumer and marketplace dynamics.
Advances in Consumer Analysis is primarily concerned with exploring in-depth, specific
theories and applications within the consumption process.
In this course we look at the current trends in society and how they affect our understanding
of marketing and consumer behaviour theories. In this subject we will examine changes
in Marketing
thought and practices with specific emphasis on product/brand management in the context
of a ‘changing’ environment.. During the course we will focus on practical
management aspects, exploring product positioning and naming issues and on issues
such as brand rejection, share of the customer, restrictive consumption and the impact
of computer and Internet technology on brand management.
