"Homeless children of Russia" (by Alexandr Arefiev) demonstrates results of an All-Russian survey
among the homeless early in 2002. Persons ranging from 7 to 17 years were interviewed in 23 regions of
Russian Federation totaling in number 2002. Data permitted to describe migrations of the group, motivations for vagabondage, potentially deviant group relationships, way of life and health conditions, literacy levels, family typologies of homeless children, their (un-)willingness to return to family/school, as well as their value orientations and future plans. Cumulatively, the study might serve as a means to determine causes of this phenomenon and approaches to remedy the situation.
