Carlota Perez. Venezuelan. Researcher, lecturer and international consultant, specialized in the social and economic impact of technical change.and on the historically changing conditions for growth, development and competitiveness

She is Visiting Senior Research Fellow 2003-2006 at CERF, Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance, Judge Institute, Cambridge University, U.K. and Honorary Research Fellow at SPRU, Science and Technology Policy Research, University of Sussex, UK, and Professor of Technology and Socio-economic Development at the Technological University of Tallinn, Estonia.

Her articles, from the early 1980s, have contributed to the present understanding of the relationship between basic innovations, technical and institutional change, and economic development. Her recent book Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital: The Dynamics of Bubbles and Golden Ages [Elgar 2002] has had a very positive response from academics as well as from the financial and the technology-based business communities.

Some of her papers and books are used as study material in post-graduate courses in universities in many countries.

As consultant she has worked for public and private organizations in Latin America, North America and Europe and for various multilateral agencies.

She is frequently invited to participate as international speaker in academic, public policy and business events
