"Specifics of learning and of value attitudes among ethnic school students in the North" looks into ethnic adoptive capabilities inherent in education system embracing aboriginal children and youth in the Russian North - namely, people inhabiting Khanty-Manssisky autonomous territoire. Data of several sociological studies are analyzed. In these studies adoptive capabilities, psycho-physiological specifics, social and demographic factors, levels of general education, and motivation and value sphere had been under scrutiny with regard to native boarding school graduates. Various of the young aboriginal people have displayed differing abilities for and attitudes to learning. Key problems hindering professional education for these persons stem from amorphous learning, family and vocational values and life strategies peculiar to Khanty and Manssi students. Modifications in the school system are suggested with the aim to expand adoptive potentialities of native school children and actively shape individual values and motivations.
