Innovation, Change and Entrepreneural Management [учебная программа]
Опубликовано на портале: 09-01-2003
Lori Rosenkopf
Dec, 2002
This core bracket course will expose you to a mix of approaches and techniques that promote innovative thinking and entrepreneurial behavior in organizations. The first half of the course examines how patterns of change in technologies and industries create both opportunities and threats for existing firms and entrepreneurs. Theoretical models and actual examples emphasize how technological and organizational systems are key components of an "entrepreneurial mindset". The second half of the course focuses on tactics and strategies that encourage innovation and entrepreneurship within (and between) organizations. Cases and articles highlight critical success factors for both new and established firms, and also how interorganizational activities shape markets and opportunities. Two guest speakers will visit to supplement our discussion and to promote interaction with practicing managers.

International Business Policy [учебная программа]
Опубликовано на портале: 28-10-2003
George Bailey
This module aims to develop the skills to analyse strategic problems and reach strategic decisions in an international context. To develop an understanding of the most important strategic issues confronting the international manager in the Twenty-First Century. To synthesise the learning from other modules and provide a means of setting their principles and practices in the overall organizational context; the International Business Policy module thus draws on and builds upon theoretical and practical information covered earlier in the course, in particular that relating to the international business environment (The International Economy), competitor analysis (covered in Marketing Management), organisational control, organisation culture, the structuring of organisations and the management of change (Human Resources Strategies).

Introduction to Management [учебная программа]
Опубликовано на портале: 05-01-2003
Daniel Raff, John Lafkas
Sep, 2002
This course is designed to complement the introductory courses of the more functionally oriented Wharton Departments -- Accounting, Finance, Marketing, OPIM, and so on -- by giving students a sense of what modern firms, viewed as entire enterprises, are like. Students who take the course should emerge with a clear picture of the sorts of responsibilities the heads of firms bear, the types of decisions they must ultimately make, and the main issues that characteristically arise in the course of making such decisions. Coverage is inevitably somewhat selective. But, by the end of the course, students should have both a clear picture of the range of courses that they could take later on, as well as a robust foundation for productively learning about these subjects.

Kwanghui Lim
2001
The aim of this course is to provide a solid grounding to students interested in managing various aspects of the innovation process within organizations. The course is divided into two parts. This segment examines the patterns and sources of technological change and the mechanisms for capturing the economic benefits from innovation. The second half examines the strategic and organizational challenges involved in managing technological innovation. These issues include the management of technological and market leadership, attracting R&D personnel and financing, managing technical teams and alliances, project selection, and the impact of the Internet on the process of managing innovation. Case studies are used throughout.
